World-class care for all to see

This World Sight Day (9 October), Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital (SSEH) opened its doors for its inaugural family open day.

The SSEH courtyard came alive with interactive stalls, free eye pressure tests, and a fun kids' corner which included a petting zoo. The hospital’s Lucy Osburn-Nightingale Museum ran tours, offering a fascinating glimpse into the hospital’s proud 200+ year history.

Leading eye experts at SSEH also interacted with the community about the latest developments in eye care, research and technology.

“World Sight Day is an important opportunity for us to raise awareness about good eye health, and to highlight the world-class, specialist eye care provided here,” said Jennie Barry, General Manager of Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital.

“I thank the Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation and all staff who were involved with making the day such a success.”

We also thank partner organisations who took part in our inaugural family open day: Vision Australia, Glaucoma Australia, Brien Holden Foundation, Guide Dogs Australia, Optometry Australia, Macular Disease Foundation Australia, and Speckles Kids.
